The Giant Troll, also known as The Troll Boss, is a massive monster that will chase just about anything. It is so fearsome that it causes animals around it to panic and create large, explosive amounts of poop.

Information[]

Visual Description[]

It is similar to a troll, except larger, with a seemingly never-ending body. It has 6 leaves over its head, one being slightly red, and another far from the others. it also has eyes that are crying tears along with blood, featuring pointy pupils and a iris featuring a Australian Mint color, a wide mouth with sharp teeth, with some covered in blood, and a large tongue. The Giant Troll has arms along with hands with only 4 fingers.

In the End Credits, it is seen lying down in a forest, covered in arrows, around a couple of trees, dead, with his eyes crying more tears and blood and X-Shaped pupils. The Giant Troll's full length can also be seen, being bigger than the couple of trees. (Although it appears smaller in the gameplay, possibly resized to fit the screen better). Its also unknown whether it has legs or not.

Castle Crashers[]

This boss lives in the Thieves' Forest and chases other animals, possibly to hunt. After chasing and losing the knights in the Abandoned Mill level, it makes its second appearance in the Parade level.

Battle Overview[]

Abandoned Mill[]

During the first encounter, the Giant Troll is invincible. The player must follow the deer, passing through any doorway and jumping over any logs.

Parade[]

The Giant Troll's second encounter is a Boss Fight: During the Parade level, it emerges and begins to chase the player again, however, with a new strategy this time: Its deadly, albeit blockable red eye beam. Projectiles, magic or arrows will make it blink, preventing it from using said eye beam attack. The thieves that keep jumping on the carriage tend to get in the way, so the fight could last a while using this method.

A strategy to end the fight quickly and easily is to take a running jump off the carriage at its eyes, and start juggling it to death. This prevents the Giant Troll from using its eye beam attack, and if the player is air-juggling well enough, the thieves shouldn't be able to hit them with their arrows. The only damage the player might take is from falling down once it dies, if they fail to land back on the carriage.

If using the Red Knight, the player can hit it with high levelled lightning Splash Magic, stopping it and dealing damage at the same time.

Any character with high magic or agility should be able to defeat it quickly using repeated projectile magic attacks or arrows.

Trivia[]

  • It may be one of the game's biggest characters, if not the biggest.
  • The Giant Troll's eye beam attack is likely based off of Casandra from Pico's School, who shoots swirlies from her eyes, the only way to prevent that being by shooting them.
  • There is a glitch in the Steam version where in the Abandoned Mill, the deer might fail to show up, and the Giant Troll chases a gray dot on the ground (the player character's shadow), and at the end of the level, the Deer Trainer achievement is unlocked.
  • Its eyelids open and close horizontally, not vertically, a unique trait of its species.
  • The credits are the only time the player can see the true length of its body.
    • Given that its body is so exceedingly long, it is likely that when it chases the player through The Abandoned Mill and Parade levels, rather than inching his body forward, it is actually stretching it out. This could make sense, as in the End Credits, it is bigger than how it was seen in the 2 levels.
    • If this is indeed the case, it could be that its inability to continue chasing at the end of The Abandoned Mill level indicates it has stretched its body to its maximum length.
  • The Giant Troll's pupils are pointier in the Abandoned Mill level than in the Parade level.
  • The Giant Troll also makes an appearance in BattleBlock Theater in a cutscene.
