Involvement

Blue Knight is one of the King's Knights, to whom he serves with loyalty, helping to get the princesses back and defeating the Evil Wizard.

Magic

Splash Attack

"Ice Shards"

Element: Ice

Max Hits: 1 upgrade per level (max 7)

Damage/Hit: Base Magic Damage x 0.5

Use 360 RT360 Y / PS3 R2PS3 Triangle to perform. At max level, the "Ice Shards" Splash Attack has no gaps in their landing location and cover half a screen in width. With each shard being able to freeze normal enemies, this Splash Attack can be very useful with a full team of 4 able to Juggle freely without taking any damage.

Unfortunately, it has a major downside. Unlike all other Splash Attacks, its Magic cost actually goes up each upgrade level, such that you will never be able to cast more than two times in a single full Magic bar. Thus, it drains Magic desired for other Splash Attacks and cannot be used as often.

This Splash Attack will never hit enemies that are already frozen.

Magic Projectile

"Ice Bolt"

Element: Ice

Damage: Base Magic Damage

Use 360 RT360 B / PS3 R2PS3 Circle to perform. A pointed bullet of ice. The fact that this freezes normal enemies makes it an extremely powerful Magic Projectile. Only one enemy is immune to its freezing effects, though. Also, this Magic Projectile will always do damage even on frozen enemies, which will unfreeze them.

Air Projectile

"Ice Shards"

Element: Ice

Max Hits: 1 upgrade per level (max 7)

Damage/Hit: Base Magic Damage x 0.5

Use 360 A, 360 RT360 Y / PS3 Cross, PS3 R2PS3 Triangle to perform. At max level, the "Ice Shards" Air Projectile has no gaps in their landing location and cover half a screen in width. With each shard being able to freeze normal enemies, this Air Projectile can be very useful with a full team of 4 able to Juggle freely without taking any damage.

Unfortunately, it has a major downside. Unlike all other Air Projectiles, its Magic cost actually goes up each upgrade level, such that you will never be able to cast more than two times in a single full Magic bar. Thus, it drains Magic desired for other Air Projectiles and cannot be used as often.

This Air Projectile will never hit enemies that are already frozen.

This Air Projectile is probably the determining factor in Blue Knight being considered to have the best crowd control and best crowd clearing potential in the game, because you can use it in the air, in addition to the ground. It can potentially save your life when using it on the ground might screw you over.

An advanced use of Juggling, named Spellweaving, can use this Air Projectile for flashy techniques, albeit constrained to 2 casts.

Elemental Infusion

"Ice Encasement"

Element: Ice

Damage: Base Magic Damage + Base Melee Damage

Use 360 X360 X360 X360 Y / PS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 Triangle to perform. This is considered the best Elemental Infusion combo in the entire game, and for a good reason. This explanation gets into the technical details to teach you about some of the complex subliminal game mechanics that can potentially improve your overall skill.

When enemies are frozen, their hit counter will be reset. This means that even after unlocking the Level 50 Combo (360 X360 X360 X360 Y360 Y / PS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 TrianglePS3 Triangle), using it is only a waste of time for Blue Knight and Iceskimo, since they don't need that second 360 Y / PS3 Triangle in the Level 50 Combo to knock the enemies over and reset the hit counter because it's already reset by the Ice. Iceskimo and Blue Knight can therefore repeat this infinitely, and they're the only two characters that can do this. Everyone else needs to use 360 X360 X360 X360 Y360 Y / PS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 TrianglePS3 Triangle (sans Bear and Saracen) to reset the hit counter.

Since the pseudo-infinite can't be interrupted by anything except for straggling enemies and other players; that means that the damage is actually as high as the health of the enemy with the most health that can infinite, which is the Beefy Brute, who has 4,500 HP on Insane Mode, meaning that the max damage is 4,500.

If Trolls are used as an example, then the max damage is irrelevant, but proves the concept as true, as trolls can't be beheaded like every other regular playable enemy, so the combo can continue forever.

One can conclude that the Ice 360 X360 X360 X360 Y / PS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 SquarePS3 Triangle is either infinitely better than all of the rest combined, or least 20.45x (4,500/220) better than the next best, which is Non-Elemental.

If using a weapon with the ability to Poison while doing this, the pseudo-infinite can potentially be broken, because the hit counter ticks with Poison, making ultimately Poison a terrible Special Effect when paired with Ice, so bottom line, don't use the Snakey Mace or Ninja Claw at all, when playing as Blue Knight or Iceskimo

Magic Jump

"Ice Fist"

Element: Ice

Damage: Base Magic Damage

Use 360 RT360 A / PS3 R2PS3 Cross to perform. A giant fist made of ice punches upwards, boosting you into the air. Freezes any enemies that you are overlapping when used. Note that it will do damage to frozen enemies and thus unfreeze them. This Magic Jump is easy to start up a juggle or the "Ice Encasement" Elemental Infusion psuedo-infinite.

Strategy

Overview

Blue Knight's Splash Attack and Air Projectile, "Ice Shards" are useful to immobilize groups of enemies immediately, dealing a good amount of damage. Blue Knight's Magic Projectile, "Ice Bolt" is good for individually freezing an enemy, with it also dealing a good amount of damage. Blue Knight's Elemental Infusion, "Ice Encasement" is great for infinitely combo locking an enemy until the enemy gets beheaded if done correctly. Blue Knight's Magic Jump, "Ice Fist" is good for immobilizing an individual enemy, like "Ice Bolt", except the Blue Knight has to get up close to do so and it boosts the Blue Knight into the air.

The only main downside to Blue Knight is that his Splash Attack and Air Projectile are expensive, only allowing 2 consecutive Splash Attack casts before needing to recharge fully to do again.

Due to Blue Knight's exclusive abilities, this considerably makes Blue Knight one of the best characters in Castle Crashers. In addition to this, Blue Knight arguably has one of the greatest unlock paths out of any character in the entire game, rivaled only by Orange Knight, normally.

Typically, a Blue Knight player tends to capitalize Magic at some point in time, due to how incredibly potent it is in said certain roles. After the hurdles of stat attributing subside, Blue Knight becomes a methodical killing machine that faces little to no problems in the game. Trivializing any encounter with regular-type enemies and Beefys alike.

One of the most difficult characters in the game.

Castle Crashers

Overview

Very good character in Castle Crashers. Capitalize on Elemental Infusion, at the minimum. Then, commit to maximizing Strength due to his downside. Animal Orb selection does make a bit of difference. The top 3 in Snoot, Piggy, or Hawkster will suffice.

Late game, Blue Knight lives up to his reputation. While boss fights may take longer to get through, boss slaying is not what makes or breaks a character, warranting Blue Knight's position in tier lists, as well as any character above, equal to, or below Blue Knight.

Arena

Overview

One of the most powerful characters in Arena. His entire kit is useful for mediumweight juggling, as well as having an oppressive neutral game.
