Barbarian War is the third level in Castle Crashers. The level is long, with a miniboss at the midpoint: the War Machine.
Walkthrough[]
The level starts immediately with combat, with 5 Barbarians and 2 friendly Gray Knights.
Wave 1: 5 Barbarians, 2 Gray Knights
Wave 2: 5 Barbarians
- A Barbarian is repeatedly punching a Gray Knight on the ground, who can be hit to free the Gray Knight.
Wave 3: 6 Barbarians
Wave 4: 7 Barbarians, 2 Thieves
- Each Thief is looting a Gray Knight corpse, and will stop doing so over time, or after being hit.
Wave 5: 5 Barbarians
- The wave starts with a Barbarian running to the left, holding a flag. The other barbarians will spawn after he sets the flag down.
- There is a small puddle present, which will slow the player(s) down when stepping in it.
- The War Machine (the level's miniboss) can be seen in the background, plowing through soldiers.
Wave 6: 1 War Machine

Wave 7: 4 Barbarians
Wave 8: 4 Barbarians
Wave 9: 4 Barbarians
- All Barbarians are sleeping on wave start. They will wake up over time, or after being hit.
Wave 10: 2 Barbarians
A wooden door is blocking the path, which must be destroyed to proceed. After passing through the door, the level transitions into a bridge sublevel.
Wave 11: 3 Barbarians
After defeating Wave 11 and proceeding, a crow flies off and the player(s) walk through the door. which leads to the next level: Barbarian Boss.
Weapons[]
- Has a chance to be dropped by Barbarians.
- Has a chance to be dropped by Thieves.
Animal Orbs[]
There are no animal orbs to be found on this level.
Notes[]
- The Barbarian who is punching the Gray Knight on Wave 2 does not need to be killed for the player to progress.
- The Barbarian carrying the flag on Wave 5 is invulnerable to all damage until he sets the flag down.
- Barbarian War is required as part of the Conscientious Objector achievement, where a player needs to complete the levels Home Castle to Barbarian Boss without attacking any enemies.
- The Bow and Arrow can be acquired for the first time on this level, as the Thieves always drop it if a player does not have it already.

Trivia[]
- Many dead Gray Knights are seen throughout the level.
- In the credits sequence, the fighting in the background is gone. Only corpses and the wreckage of the War Machine are present.
- After killing the Barbarians on Wave 11, if the player heads back left into the main section, the previously defeated waves will oddly respawn.
- The War Machine can be seen ramming through the soldiers in the background at the beginning of wave 5.
